According to customs data, the export of spunlace nonwovens in the first half of 2024 hit a record high of 195.867kt, a year-on-year increase of 12%. The average price was $2,284/mt, a year-on-year decrease of 6%. The export volume has risen in fluctuation with the global market opened after the COVID-19 pandemic, while the export price has been falling with fast capacity expansion and relieved tightness of supply.

In Jan-Jun, the export volume of spunlace nonwovens to the five major destinations (the Republic of Korea, the United States, Japan, Vietnam, and Brazil) reached 104.956kt, a year-on-year increase of 7%. The export to the major destinations generally increased, except for a reduction for the US. Moreover, the export to other countries (regions) was also growing.

Among the main origins for spunlace nonwovens (Zhejiang, Shandong, Jiangsu, Guangdong, Beijing and Fujian), Zhejiang has seen a rapid increase in the volume and percentage, taking up almost 60% of the total exports in the first half of this year. The export from other regions was growing mildly. It is worth noting that the export from Beijing has gradually surpassed Fujian in the past few years.

China's spunlace nonwovens exports are generally good, with the export volume in the first half of 2024 hitting new highs. Although the sea freight has been climbing up since Mar, there has not been significant impact on the export of spunlace nonwovens. Given the rise in export volume, the competition among different companies has been fierce, coupled with falling export price. Among the destinations, Japan and the Republic of Korea takes up an import share, and the export from Zhejiang takes the leading position among all the origins.
