By the week ending Aug 18, 84% of crops is setting bolls, up 10% from previous week, 6% from a year ago and 3% from five-year average, according to USDA. 19% of cotton bolls is opening, up 6% from previous week, up 2% from a year ago and 2% from five-year average.

Crop condition is 8 percent very poor, 18 percent poor, 32 percent fair, 35 percent good and 7 percent excellent.
