China's coal, crude oil and natural gas production and imports in Jul 2024

The production of raw coal increased steadily. In Jul 2024, the output of raw coal from industrial enterprises above designated size was 390 million tons, up 2.8% from the same period last year, which was 0.8 percentage points lower than that in Jun. The average daily output was 12.592 million tons. Imported coal was 46.21 million tons in Jul, an increase of 17.7% over the same period last year, data from National Statistics Bureau showed.

In Jan-Jul 2024, raw coal production reached 2.66 billion tons, down 0.8% from the same period last year; and coal imports amounted to 300 million tons, up 13.3% from the same period last year.

Crude oil production growth accelerated. In Jul, the output of crude oil from industrial enterprises above designated size was 17.90 million tons, an increase of 3.4% over the same period last year, which was 1.0 percentage points higher than that in Jun. The average daily output was 577,000 tons. Imported crude oil was 42.34 million tons in Jul, a decrease of 3.1% over the same period last year.

In Jan-Jul 2024, crude oil production reached 124.96 million tons, up 2.1% from the same period last year; and crude oil imports amounted to 317.81 million tons, down 2.4% from the same period last year.

Crude oil processing volume dropped. In Jul, the processing volume of crude oil was 59.06 million tons, a decrease of 6.1% over the same period last year, 2.4 percentage points faster from Jun. The average daily processing was 1.905 million tons. In Jan-Jul 2024, crude oil processing volume totaled 419.15 million tons, down 1.2% on year.

The growth rate of natural gas production was stable. In Jul, the output of natural gas from industrial enterprises above designated size was 20.0 billion cubic meters, an increase of 7.9% over the same period last year, and the growth rate was 1.7 percentage points lower than that in Jun, with an average daily output of 650 million cubic meters. Imports of natural gas were 10.86 million tons, an increase of 5.6% over the same period last year.

In Jan-Jul 2024, natural gas production reached 143.6 billion cubic meters, up 6.2% from the same period last year; and the imports amounted to 75.44 million tons, up 12.9% from the same period last year.
