EU imposes 25% tariff on U.S.

On April 9, local time, 27 member states of the European Union voted to adopt a countermeasure to impose a 25% tariff on U.S. imports in retaliation for the Trump administration's announcement on March 12 to impose steel and aluminum tariffs on the European Union. The value of the goods involved in the countermeasure is approximately 21 billion euros. EU countermeasures will take effect in phases, with the first batch coming into effect on April 15.
