Jan-Feb polyester exports continue to increase
In the fourth quarter of last year, domestic export data surged, providing significant support to the market. According to the latest customs data, polyester exports in January-February 2025 totaled 2.108 million tons, an increase of 305,000 tons year-on-year, maintaining a strong performance.
Across all polyester segments, exports showed year-on-year growth, including polyester filament, which had been weak last year but also saw a notable increase.
The chart below details the trends for each product.
While February exports declined month-on-month due to the Chinese New Year, they remained strong compared to the same period in previous years.
Overall, January-February polyester export data was positive. However, feedback from within the industry indicates that post-holiday textile and apparel export orders have been sluggish, dampening market confidence. This divergence suggests that the strong early-year data may still reflect the impact of inventory restocking from late last year. March data will likely provide a clearer picture of the market's direction.
