By the week ending Sep 12, about 96% U.S. cotton crops have been setting bolls, up 2% from last week, down 3% from a year ago, and down 3% from five-year average, according to USDA. About 36% of the crops is bolls opening, up 7% from last week, down 10% from a year ago, and down 7% from five-year average. 5% of the crops are harvested.
Crop condition is 1 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 30 percent fair, 50 percent good and 14 percent excellent.
