By the week ending Aug 29, about 86% U.S. cotton crops have been setting bolls, up 7% from last week, down 6% from a year ago, and down 8% from five-year average, according to USDA. About 21% of the crops is bolls opening, up 7% from last week, down 7% from a year ago, and down 5% from five-year average.
Crop condition is 1 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 24 percent fair, 55 percent good and 15 percent excellent.
