China coal, crude oil and natural gas production and imports in 2023
Raw coal production growth kept stable and imports growth remained fast. According to National Bureau of Statistics, in December, coal production from enterprises above designated size reached 410 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.9%, with the growth rate 2.7 percentage points lower than that of November, and a daily output of 13.36 million tons. Coal imports amounted to 47.30 million tons in December, a year-on-year increase of 53.0%, with the growth rate up 18.2 percentage points compared to November.
In 2023, coal production reached 4.66 billion tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.9%. Coal imports amounted to 470 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 61.8%.
Crude oil production growth accelerated and imports growth turned positive. In December, crude oil production from enterprises above designated size reached 17.65 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 4.6%, with the growth rate 2.0 percentage points higher than that of November, and a daily output of 569,000 tons. Crude oil imports amounted to 48.36 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 0.6%, compared to the growth of minus 9.1% in November.
In 2023, crude oil production reached 208.91 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.0%. Crude oil imports amounted to 563.99 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 11.0%.
Crude oil processing volume increased slightly. In December, crude oil processing volume reached 60.11 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 1.1%, with the growth rate 0.9 percentage points higher than that of November, and a daily processing volume of 1.939 million tons. In 2023, crude oil processing volume reached 734.78 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.3%.
Natural gas production growth remained steady and imports growth maintained fast. In December, natural gas production reached 20.9 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 2.9%, with the growth rate 2.4 percentage points lower than that of November, and a daily output of 670 million cubic meters. Natural gas imports amounted to 12.65 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 23.0%, with the growth rate 16.4 percentage points higher than that of November.
In 2023, natural gas production reached 229.7 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 5.8%. Natural gas imports amounted to 119.97 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.9%, according to National Bureau of Statistics.
