Spunlace nonwovens export of China in 2023 will far exceed that of 2022
According to customs data, the export of spunlace nonwovens in Oct 2023 was 29.717kt, a year-on-year increase of 6%, and a month-on-month decline of 9%. The average price was $2,307/mt, a year-on-year decrease of 7% and a month-on-month decrease of 2%. In the first ten months of this year, the total export volume totaled around 300kt, which was almost flat with the comparable 2022 level.
In Oct 2023, the export volume of spunlace nonwovens to the five major destinations (South Korea, the United States, Japan, Vietnam, and Brazil) reached 17.498kt, a year-on-year increase of 2%, accounting for 59% of the total export volume. The export to the five major destinations was still growing, in spite of a decrease in the overall volume.
In Oct, the main origins for spunlace nonwovens (Zhejiang, Shandong, Jiangsu, Guangdong, and Fujian) had an export volume of 24.775kt, a year-on-year increase of 3%, accounting for 83% of the total export volume.
The export of spunlace nonwovens starts to drop on monthly basis since Oct. The fabric mills has already been under the pressure of exporting nonwovens, as well as in Nov. However, the export volume during Jan-Oct is similar to the whole-year level of 2022, so the total export of 2023 will far exceed that of 2022. Orders for the Christmas have almost been placed, and buyers outside China will be considering about the influence of Chinese Lunar New Year, so there may be less export during Dec-Feb.
