Nylon industrial filament and cord fabric export analysis in Jan-Oct 2023

In Jan-Oct 2023, nylon 6 industrial filament export has shrunk evidently by 15% compared to that in 2022, while that of nylon 6 cord fabric, nylon 66 industrial filament and nylon 66 cord fabric are all in narrow waves. But there is an evident rebound in export of nylon 66 industrial filament and nylon 6 & 66 cord fabric in October. The prices of all the product dropped largely by 21% to 37% compared with the same period of 2022, and that of nylon 66 cord fabric dropped the most significantly.

In Jan-Oct 2023, nylon 6 industrial filament export has reached 49,842 tons, down 15% compared to the same period of last year, while the export in Oct 2023 has improved slightly by 5%. In the past 9 months of 2023, nylon 6 industrial filament monthly exports have been lower than the same period of last year (except for the month of Feb, which was affected by the influence of Spring Festival). There is an evident contraction in the export of nylon 6 industrial filament in 2023.

Nylon 6 cord fabric export in Jan-Oct 2023 has inched up narrowly by 2% year-on-year to 72,420 tons, and the volume in Oct rebounded evidently to 6,310 tons, with a year-on-year increase of 16%. In the month of Jan, and May-Jul and Sep, exports of n6 cord fabric were all below the rates in the same period of 2022. The export condition for nylon 6 cord fabric is better than that of nylon 6 industrial filament, while almost stagnates from the last year.

In Jan-Oct 2023, nylon 66 industrial filament export has reached 40,325 tons, up 6% compared to the same period of last year, while the export in Oct 2023 has jumped up significantly by 35%. Even not as bad as the situation of nylon 6 industrial filament, export of nylon 66 industrial filament had only narrow increase year-on-year, and was lower than the same period of last year in the month of Mar and Jul.

Nylon 66 cord fabric export in Jan-Oct 2023 has been flat year-on-year to 30,680 tons, and the volume in Oct also rebounded evidently to 2,502 tons, with a year-on-year increase of 33%. The export volumes in the second half of the year have been higher than that of 2022, showing a trend of recovery. But the average export price of nylon 66 cord fabric had dropped most significantly among the 4 product observed by 37% year-on-year, and this is based on the decline in nylon 66 industrial filament cost and also the lower cost of integrated plants (lower cost of nylon 66 polymer in 2023).
