According to China customs, in the first two months of 2023, the total import and export value of woolen raw materials and its products totaled 1.9 billion US dollars, down 10.3% year on year. The export value reached 1.4 billion US dollars, down 5.2% year on year, and the imports amounted to $500 million, down 21.6 percent year-on-year.

Among the major export products, only wool strips, woolen woven garments and non-plush products showed an increase in export. The exports of wool strips totaled 7,754 tons and 92.53 million US dollars, with year-on-year growth of 8.3% and 21.3% respectively, maintaining a fast growth. It could be seen that in addition to woolen woven garments, exports of woolen intermediate products and clothing were both under pressure.

From January to February this year, imports of raw wool and pre-processed wool totaled 38,000 tons, up 2.3% year on year. The import value fell rapidly by 18.2% to US $270 million. Among them, 22,000 tons were from Australian, down 2.6% year-on-year. The demand for woolen raw material imports is relatively stable.
