200kt/year of BDO unit from Longyu New material in Baicheng, Xinjiang approved by environmental assessment

On Mar 8, 2023, the 200kt/year BDO project environmental impact report of Xinjiang Baicheng Longyu New Materials Co., Ltd. was compiled.

Construction content: this project uses natural gas as raw material, acetylene is prepared by partial oxidation of natural gas, methanol is prepared by desulphurization and hydrogenation from by-product tail gas of acetylene plant, then formaldehyde is prepared by iron-molybdenum catalytic oxidation, and then BDO is prepared by alkyne aldehyde method (Reppe method) by using acetylene and formaldehyde as raw material. The main purpose of this project is to build 2 sets of 100kt/year BDO plant, 1 set of 70kt/year acetylene plant, 1 set of 300kt/year methanol plant, 2 sets of 240kt/year formaldehyde plant (37% formaldehyde) and other supporting facilities.

Construction site: the project is located in the new area of Baicheng Industrial Park, the total area of the plant is 142.5hm2.

Construction scale: this project uses natural gas as raw material to produce BDO, with an annual output of 200000 tons of BDO.

Construction period: 24 months.

Project investment: 7.2033584 billion yuan

Xinjiang Baicheng Longyu New Materials Co., Ltd. was established on December 15, 2021 by Xinjiang Holding Investment Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Henan Energy and Chemical Industry Group, and Baicheng County Urban and Rural Construction Investment and Development (Group) Co., Ltd. The company is located in the west of Jinhui Road, Baicheng County Industrial Park, Aksu County, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous region, south of Tianshan Gas filling Station, covering an area of 2137 mu.
