Madagascar initiates sunset review investigation of safeguard measures on imported blankets

The WTO Committee on Safeguards recently released a notification on safeguards submitted by the Madagascar delegation. On February 18, 2023, upon the application of a domestic enterprise in Madagascar, the Madagascar Investigation Agency (ANMCC) launched a sunset review investigation of safeguard measures on imported blankets (French: Couvertures). The products involved are wool, cotton or fiber-made blankets of various colors, sizes and weights, involving products under Madagascar tax numbers 63011000, 63012000, 63013000, 63014000 and 63019000. According to gtf data, China exports the products involved in this case to Madagascar for 8.2662 million US dollars in 2022, a year-on-year increase of 79.58%.
