U.S. textile and apparel imports hit a 30-month low in Dec
The US textile and apparel imports reached 6.15 billion square meters in December, down 31.6% year-on-year and 10.7% month-on-month, marking the seventh consecutive monthly decline. Imports value stood at $8.68 billion, down 15.6% year on year.
Among them, the apparel import volume was 1.92 billion square meters, down 23.8% year-on-year but up 10% month-on-month. The apparel import value totaled 6.54 billion dollars, dropping by 10.5% year-on-year.
Textile and apparel imports of the US hit a 30-month low since Covid-19 broke out in June 2020.
In December, US imported 2.22 billion square meters of textile and apparel from China, down 31.1% year on year, and the value reached $1.94 billion, down 29.8% from last year. Among them, the apparel imported from China was 620 million square meters, down 33.6% year on year, and the value toppled $1.22 billion, decreasing by 28.1% compared with last year.
