US textile and apparel imports fall for five consecutive months in October
In October 2022, US textile and apparel import stood at 7.81 billion square meters, down 12.4% year-on-year and 11.4% month-on-month, which was the fifth consecutive month of decline. The import value reached US$10.84 billion, decreased by 3.6% from last year.
US's total apparel imports in October toppled 2.21 billion square meters, down 22.7% year-on-year and 17.6% month-on-month, and the imported apparel value amounted to US$8.24 billion, dropping by 1.2% year-on-year.
In October, US’s apparel import volume fell to the lowest level in the year. While according to the data of previous years, it wouldn’t see a significant decline until November. Therefore, it was believed that the repeated epidemic in October may have affected this month’s import.
The total amount of textile and apparel imported from China in October was 2.77 billion square meters, down 24.5% year-on-year, and the import value reached US$2.48 billion, down 26.9% year-on-year. Among them, the apparel volume totaled 710 million square meters, reduced by 39.8% year-on-year, and the imported apparel value from China toppled US$1.6 billion, down 33.3% year-on-year.
