By the week ending Sep 4, 97% of the crops is setting bolls, up 3% from previous week, 4% from a year ago, and 1% from five-year average. 39% of the crops are bolls opening, up 11% from previous week, 11% from a year ago, and 7% from five-year average. 

Crop condition is 15 percent very poor, 16 percent poor, 34 percent fair, 30 percent good and 5 percent excellent.
