Major EU-27 textile and apparel imports origins maintained rapid growth in Q1
The European Union is China's main textile and apparel demand market. The import value from EU accounted for about 15% of China's textile and apparel exports in 2021, which showed that the change of EU market demand was more important to China's textile and apparel exports. The latest data showed that EU-27 imported 1.045 million tons of textile and apparel from China in the first quarter, up 10.3% year-on-year. Although the EU-27 textile and apparel import data in Mar have not yet been released, the EU is expected to maintain a good positive growth rate in Mar.
Bangladesh, the imports source of EU-27 textile and apparel, grew faster than the same period last year, up 21.5% year-on-year in the first quarter, including up 31.2% in Mar, indicating that the Bangladesh’s share in EU-27 textile and apparel import performed well. So will this continue? Judging from Bangladesh's apparel exports in Apr, the overall exports maintained rapid growth, of which the exports value to the European Union reached a year-on-year growth rate of 58%, indicating that the EU-27 textile and apparel import demand from Bangladesh in Apr was still strong.
Turkey's share in EU-27 textile and apparel imports reached 14.4% and Bangladesh’s share rose to 10.7%. India’s share was stable to higher while Pakistan, Vietnam and Indonesia’s shares slipped slightly. Although total EU-27 import data in March have not yet been released, imports from major markets will still show good year-on-year growth, and Bangladesh's share is expected to grow.
