Brazil launches anti-dumping investigation into synthetic knitted and crocheted fabrics

On December 27, 2024, Foreign Trade Secretariat of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade and Services of Brazil (Ministériodo Desenvolvimento, Indústria, Comércio e Serviços/Secretariat de Comércio Exterior) Issued Announcement No. 80 of 2024, in response to the Brazilian Domestic Textile Industry Alliance Sindicato das Indústrias Têxteis de Malhas e de Curtimto de Couros e Pele no Estado de Minas Gerais (SINDIMALHAS) filed an application on September 6, 2024 to initiate an anti-dumping investigation against synthetic fiber knitted and crocheted fabrics (Portugal: malhas de poliéster) originating in China. The Southern Common Market tax numbers of the products involved are 6004.10.31, 6004.10.32, 6004.10.33, 6004.10.34, 6004.90.30, 6006.31.20, 6006.32.20, 6006.33.20 and 6006.34.20. The dumping investigation period in this case is from January 2023 to December 2023, and the damage investigation period is from January 2021 to December 2023. The announcement will take effect as of the date of issuance. According to Brazilian customs data, Brazil imported US$150 million in products involved in the case from China in 2023, a year-on-year decrease of 12.5%. The main exporting province is Zhejiang Province.
