September BDO exports edge up

According to the latest data from China customs, exports of products under Hs code 29053990, including BDO, amounted to 19653 tons in September 2024, 9.0%up m-o-m and 38.8% year-on-year respectively. The export unit price averaged at $1.462/kg, down $0.14/kg over last month.

According to thescreening data from CCFGroup, exports of BDO were near14kt in September, up by near 7.2%month on month and 37.1% on the year respectively.

Export of BDO was moderate but has apparently declined over Q2. Overseas demand weakened on the month. Large export orders presented weak over last month while small orders were tolerable.

Vietnam remained the biggest export market for BDO in September, slightly moving up on the month. Local demand has not recovered after fell in August. The demand from South Korea gradually dwindled in Q3, presenting muted. Exports to Italy was less volatile, which has been stable from March. Demand from Malaysia also reduced on the month in Q3 but the volume gradually restored. Exports to other markets improved on the month in September but was obviously lower than that in the first half of year. Decreasing export volume was affected by weak overseas demand and the supply cut of domestic factories amid losses. The exports of BDO in Q3 was lower than that in the first half of 2024.

Jiangsu kept the major export origin of BDO in September, with export volume down by near 45% on the month and the market share down by 22 percentage points. Exports from Ningxia rose by 50% on the month and its market share increased by 6 percentage points over last month to 22%. Export from Shanghai greatly climbed up by 14 percentage points on the month to 16%, that from Henan rose by 6 percentage points month on month to 15% and that from Xinjiang slightly edged up but its proportion fell.
