Vietnam's textile market weakens MoM, improves YoY in Sep

In September, Vietnam's textile industry experienced a slowdown month-on-month, but year-on-year performance remained strong.

Cotton imports in September 2024

Vietnam's cotton imports rose year-on-year but decreased month-on-month. In September 2024, Vietnam imported 119,300 tons of cotton, marking a 10.0% year-on-year increase but a 9.2% month-on-month decline. By country of origin, the primary sources were Australian cotton (37.97%), U.S. cotton (21.16%), and Brazilian cotton (15.83%).

Yarn imports in September 2024

Vietnam's yarn imports totaled 96,300 tons, an 8% year-on-year increase and a significant 15.7% month-on-month increase. China remained the largest supplier, accounting for 65.64% of the imports.

Yarn exports in September 2024

Yarn exports decreased both year-on-year and month-on-month. Vietnam exported 144,300 tons of yarn, down 6.2% year-on-year and 11.6% month-on-month, with China as the primary export destination.

Vietnam's net yarn exports amounted to 47,900 tons, representing a 25.8% year-on-year decline and a 1.9% month-on-month decrease.

Fabric and textile imports in September 2024

Vietnam's imports of fabric and textiles reached $1.254 billion, up 14.0% year-on-year and 1.2% month-on-month.

Textile and apparel exports in September 2024

Vietnam's textile and apparel exports totaled $2.979 billion, a 16.0% year-on-year increase but a 26.5% month-on-month decrease.
