In Jun, the import and export volumes of VSF (550410) were both over 3kt, with significant growth on monthly and yearly basis, while exports saw a reduction of more than 50%. In the first half of 2024, the cumulative imports amounted to 18.3kt, with the annual import forecast rising to over 40kt. The cumulative exports during the same period were 36.6kt, with an annual estimate reaching nearly 90kt. The export volume is about twice that of the import volume.

For rayon yarn (5510), India's cumulative exports amounted to 17.1kt in the first half of 2024, an increase of 8% compared to the same period last year. Among them, single yarn (551011) exports totaled 9.3kt, up 11% year on year. The cumulative import volume for rayon yarn (5510) was 12.8kt, nearly halving compared to the same period last year. Specifically, single yarn (551011) imports totaled 10.2kt, a dramatic 60% drop compared to the same period of 2023.

India's rayon yarn exports in 2024 are expected to be around 40kt, a slight increase from previous years, while imports are anticipated to be around 30kt, a decrease of about 60%. For single yarn, both exports and imports are expected to be around 20kt, with exports showing a minor increase and imports falling by around 70% compared to the previous year.

In Jun, Indonesia exported 15kt of rayon single yarn and nearly 1.6kt of ply yarn. For the first half of the year, cumulative exports of rayon single yarn amounted to 100kt and ply yarn 12kt. Full-year exports are expected to exceed 200kt for single yarn and 20kt for ply yarn. In comparison, China's exports of rayon yarn from Jan to Jul were below 50kt, with ply yarn exports around 10kt. Indonesia has firmly established itself as the largest exporter.

Regarding the distribution of single yarn, Brazil accounts for a quarter of the market share and has secured more than half of China's rayon single yarn exports in Jun. Brazil imported nearly 10kt of rayon single yarn from Indonesia and China combined in Jun, with around 5.5kt from China and nearly 4kt from Indonesia.

Among other countries, Egypt accounted for about 18% of Indonesia's rayon single yarn exports in Jun, while India and Vietnam each accounted for about 10%, and South Korea and Turkey each took up nearly 5%.
