Vietnam's textiles and apparel exports rebound in July

In July, Vietnam's textile industry saw a renewed positive resonance between upstream and downstream sectors, with garment export values continuing to rise, reaching a new high for the year.

Cotton imports decline y-o-y and increase m-o-m

Vietnam's cotton imports in July 2024 increased both year-on-year and month-on-month. According to statistics, Vietnam imported 110,700 tons of cotton in July 2024, a 14.7% decrease compared to the same period last year but a 26.5% increase month-on-month. By country, the main sources of Vietnam's cotton imports in July were Brazil and the United States, accounting for 39.38% and 17.34% of the total, respectively.

Yarn imports increase m-o-m and y-o-y

Vietnam imported 106,500 tons of yarn in July 2024, marking a 36.1% year-on-year increase and a 12.1% month-on-month increase. The main importing country remained China, which accounted for 69.68% of the total.

Yarn exports declines both y-o-y and m-o-m

Vietnam exported 160,000 tons of yarn in July 2024, a 3% year-on-year increase and a 13% month-on-month increase, with China being the primary export destination.

In July 2024, Vietnam's net yarn exports reached 53,500 tons, a 30.7% decrease year-on-year but a 15% increase month-on-month.

Fabric imports decrease y-o-y and m-o-m

The import value of greige fabric and woven fabric in July 2024 was USD 1.196 billion, a 22.9% year-on-year increase but a 3.9% decrease month-on-month.

Textile and apparel exports increase y-o-y and m-o-m

Vietnam's textile and garment exports in July 2024 amounted to USD 3.716 billion, a 13.7% year-on-year increase and a 17.6% month-on-month increase.
