By the week ending Sep 1, 95% of crops is setting bolls, up 6% from previous week, 2% from a year ago and 1% from five-year average, according to USDA. 37% of cotton bolls is opening, up 12% from previous week, up 7% from a year ago and 6% from five-year average.
Crop condition is 11 percent very poor, 13 percent poor, 32 percent fair, 38 percent good and 6 percent excellent.
