According to customs data, the export of spunlace nonwovens in May 2024 increased by 13% year on year and 10% month on month to 35.636kt. The average price was $2,248/mt, a year-on-year decrease of 5% and a month-on-month reduction of 2%. This was contrary to the poor exports reflected by fabric mills before, but in fact, they were reflecting fewer new orders, and given the expectation of rising sea freight, customers showed better activity of picking up the goods ordered previously. Therefore, the export data in May performed well.

In May 2024, the export volume of spunlace nonwovens to the five major destinations (the Republic of Korea, the United States, Japan, Vietnam, and Brazil) reached 18.794kt, a year-on-year increase of 13%, accounting for 53% of the total export volume. The export to the various destinations generally increased in May, especially a notable year-on-year growth of the US and Vietnam.

In May, the main origins for spunlace nonwovens (Zhejiang, Shandong, Jiangsu, Guangdong, and Fujian) had an export volume of 30.76kt, a year-on-year increase of 14%, accounting for 86% of the total export volume. The exports of those areas generally increased in May, except for Fujian.

The export of spunlace nonwovens of May hits a record high in 2024 and it is reflected by fabric mills that it is related to the activity of picking up goods by the customers, but new orders are still limited. In May, the export to the Republic of Korea slightly decreases, while that to other regions gains better growth. As for the origins, there is a year-on-year growth for all the regions, except for Fujian.
