Cotton imports continued to increase in May 2024

In May, Vietnam's cotton imports continued to rise both year-over-year and month-over-month. Statistics show that in May 2024, Vietnam imported 151,800 tons of cotton, a 4.1% increase compared to the same period last year and a 14.3% increase compared to the previous month. By country, the main sources of cotton imports in May were the United States and Brazil, accounting for 40.80% and 35.91%, respectively.

Yarn imports increased in May 2024

In May 2024, Vietnam imported 111,200 tons of yarn, a year-over-year increase of 24.3% and a month-over-month increase of 6.2%. The main import source remained China, accounting for 69.40%.

Yarn exports decreased in May 2024

In May 2024, Vietnam exported 158,300 tons of yarn, a year-over-year decrease of 1.3% but a month-over-month increase of 4.5%. The main export destination remained China.

The net yarn exports decreased both year-on-year and month-on-month in April 2024

The import value of greige fabrics increased

In May 2024, the import value of grey fabric and fabrics was $1.427 billion, a year-over-year increase of 19.3% and a month-over-month increase of 6.3%.

Textile and apparel exports decreased year-on-year but increased month-on-month

In May 2024, Vietnam's textile and garment exports were valued at $2.762 billion, a year-over-year decrease of 5.3% but a month-over-month increase of 6.4%.
