2024 Spring Festival holiday schedule of recycled chemical fiber plants

In 2023, recycled chemical fiber plants generally took their holidays early, with some plants having a holiday period of 50-60 days. In 2024, although plants said they would take their holidays early, the actual holiday time was relatively normal, and many only took their holidays at the end of the year. Most recycled chemical fiber plants will start their holidays in late January to early February, and some can even start as early as around February 5th to 8th, with a few stopping operations at the end of December 2023.

We make a quick survey about holiday schedule of recycled plants (capacity over 3.0 million tons).

Note: The ranking is not in any particular order, and some mainstream plants are not included due to the collection time.

Some plants in Hangzhou have withdrawn from the market, and some plants in Cixi, Zhejiang, have already stopped operations. Some plants in Wujiang and Jiangyin started their holidays in mid to late December. The holiday period is concentrated at the end of January and the beginning of February. The specific holiday period depends on factors such as raw materials, steam, orders, and labor situations, and the restart time after the Spring Festival holiday will be the same.

1. In December, some plants in certain regions reduced production and stopped operations due to environmental impacts. Plants that have restarted production after New Year holiday plan to continue operations until the end of the year.

2. HC re-PSF plants generally take their holidays later. In 2024, there will be a concentrated new capacity expansions, and market competition will become more intense.

3. After the Spring Festival holiday, many plants do not have specific plans to restart production. Raw materials, labor, and order demands are uncertain factors. As the Chinese Lunar New Year is still a month away, the actual holiday period for factories may be adjusted. The above is the initial plan, and some may take early holidays due to the shortage of raw materials.

4. There is a shortage of recycled feedstock, and the inventory of recycled PSF is not high, with some regions in Hebei and northern Jiangsu having no inventory, while the inventory in the southern regions varies. Conditions are in place for a strong start after the holiday, and attention should be paid to guidance from upstream and external sectors.
