Sound growth of rayon yarn export in the third quarter

According to customs data, rayon yarn export of China reached 16.193kt in Sep 2023, with a month-on-month increase of 1% and a year-on-year increase of 98%. Among them, the export of single yarn was 14.433kt, with a year-on-year increase of 105% but a month-on-month decrease of 1%. The export of ply yarn was 1.76kt, with a year-on-year increase of 56% and a month-on-month increase of 17%. The notable year-on-year decline of export volume by 38% was attributed by the larger number of last year, but the export of the third quarter far exceeded that of last year, so the reduction from Jan to Sep this year had narrowed slowly.

In Sep 2023, the export of rayon single yarn to the five major countries (Brazil, Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, and Vietnam) was 14.433kt, with a year-on-year increase of 124%, accounting for 93% of the total export volume of single yarn, hitting new highs within the year. The export to India was still at a high level.

The main origins of rayon single yarn in Sep 2023 were Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Fujian, Xinjiang, and Sichuan, with an export volume of 12.968kt, a year-on-year increase of 90%, accounting for 90% of the total export volume of single yarn.

The export of rayon yarn in the third quarter was significantly higher than that of last year, which has gradually filled the gap in the first half of this year. However, the spinners reflected that the exports started to be sluggish again in Oct, and the export volume in the fourth quarter may be less than that of the third quarter, and there is still likely a large year-on-year decline of the export for the whole year.
