Mitsubishi Chemical to revise up its capacity of BioPTMG
Recently, Mitsubishi Chemical Group announced that its Yokkaichi plant's bio-based raw material PTMG (Polytetramethylene Ether Glycol) (BioPTMG) can provide flagship BioPTMG 1000 and BioPTMG 2000 products.
PTMG is characterized by its resilience and abrasion resistance and is used as a material to enhance elasticity, primarily in polyurethane elastic fibers (spandex). Mitsubishi Chemical has decided to increase its production capacity to 3000 tons per year to meet further growth in future demand.
BioPTMG is a bio-based polyol developed by Mitsubishi Chemical in 2021. It has excellent resilience, abrasion resistance, hydrolysis resistance, and flexibility at low temperatures. It performs comparably to PTMG made from petrochemical raw materials and offers superior properties.
Mitsubishi Chemical's unique refining technology eliminates coloring when used in resins, making its application more extensive. From interior decoration and clothing to industrial materials, its performance rivals petroleum-based products.
