Cambodia raises minimum wage standards for garment workers
The National Committee for Minimum Wage (NCMW) in Cambodia recently proposed raising the new minimum wage standards for the garment, tourism goods, and baggage industries from $200 to $202. Prime Minister Hun Sen approved an additional $2, bringing the minimum wage standard for the industry to $204 next year, and further ensuring worker safety and welfare in certain provisions.
In addition, Prime Minister Hun Sen will attend a conference organized by the government and key industry stakeholders in November. The conference will discuss addressing a series of challenges and difficulties currently faced by the textile and garment industry in order to maintain its international competitiveness.
