China coal, crude oil and natural gas imports in August

China raw coal production has accelerated, and imports continue to grow rapidly. In August, coal production reached 380 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.0%, with the growth rate 1.9 percentage points higher than that of July, and a daily output of 12.33 million tons. Coal imports amounted to 44.33 million tons in August, a year-on-year increase of 50.5%, with the growth rate down 16.7 percentage points compared to July, according to National Bureau of Statistics.

 

From January to August 2023, coal production reached 3.05 billion tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.4%. Coal imports amounted to 310 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 82.0%.

 

Crude oil production has accelerated, and imports have grown faster. In August, crude oil production reached 17.47 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 3.1%, with the growth rate 2.1 percentage points higher than that of July, and a daily output of 564,000 tons. Crude oil imports amounted to 52.8 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 30.9%, with the growth rate 13.8 percentage points higher than that of July.

 

From January to August 2023, crude oil production reached 139.85 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.1%. Crude oil imports amounted to 378.55 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 14.7%.

 

Crude oil processing growth rate continues to accelerate. In August, crude oil processing volume reached 64.69 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 19.6%, with the growth rate 2.2 percentage points higher than that of July, and a daily processing volume of 2.087 million tons. From January to August, crude oil processing volume reached 491.40 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 11.9%.

 

Natural gas production is steadily increasing, and imports continue to grow rapidly. In August, natural gas production reached 18.1 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 6.3%, with the growth rate 1.3 percentage points slower than that of July, and a daily output of 580 million cubic meters. Natural gas imports amounted to 10.86 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 22.7%, with the growth rate 3.8 percentage points higher than that of July.

 

From January to August 2023, natural gas production reached 152.1 billion cubic meters, a year-on-year increase of 5.7%. Natural gas imports amounted to 77.71 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 9.4%.
