U.S. textile and apparel imports fall 22.4% in April
In April 2023, US textile and apparel imports were 7.9 billion square meters, down 22.4% year-on-year, yet up 10.6% month-on-month, and imports reached a new high of nearly 7 months. Total imports amounted to 7.91 billion US dollars, down 28% year on year and 4.9% month on month.
Among them, apparel import volume were 1.77 billion square meters, down 33.9% year-on-year, and 4.7% month-on-month, and import value stood at 5.74 billion US dollars, down 29% year-on-year, down 8% month-on-month.
In April, US textile and apparel imports from China totaled 2.17 billion square meters, down 22.3% year-on-year, and an amount of 1.72 billion US dollars, down 24% year-on-year. Among them, the total amount of apparel imported from China was 570 million square meters, down 19.2% year-on-year, and an amount of 1.05 billion US dollars, down 22.8% year-on-year.
