Turkish apparel exports fall 6.34% to US$6.3 billion in Jan-Apr 2023

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute and the country's Ministry of Trade, Turkey's apparel exports saw a 6.34 percent year-on-year decline in Jan-Apr 2023, bringing the total exports to $6.348 billion US dollars, compared to $6.778 billion US dollars in the same period in 2022. In Apr 2023, the exports fell by 23.54%, totaling $1,432.706 million US dollars. Exports of knitted and crocheted apparels and accessories (HS Chapter 61) for the Jan-Apr 2023 period amounted to $3.403 billion US dollars, a decrease of 9% from $2.738 billion US dollars in the same period of the previous year. Meanwhile, non-knitted apparels and accessories (HS Chapter 62) were valued at 2.945 billion US dollars, a decline of 3.1% compared to $3.04 billion US dollars in Jan-Apr 2022.

In Apr 2023, Turkey's total exports of knitted and non-knitted apparels and accessories fell by 23.54% to $1.432 billion US dollars, compared to $1.873 billion US dollars in Apr 2022. Exports of knitted and crocheted apparels and accessories fell by 23.2% to $778 million US dollars in Apr 2023, compared to $1,012.938 million US dollars a year earlier. Shipments of non-knitted apparels and accessories also experienced a 24% decline in Apr, from $861.32 million US dollars in Apr 2022 to $654.706 million US dollars in Apr 2023.

Turkey's apparel exports increased by 6.46% to $19.475 billion US dollars in 2022, compared to $18.294 billion US dollars in 2021.
