BASF invests in new installations in China and Germany
BASF announced investment in a new citral plant at its integrated base in Zhanjiang, China, and new downstream units for menthol and linalool at the integrated base in Ludwigshafen, Germany. These devices are expected to be put into production from 2026 to meet the growing demand in the global flavor market and to promote BASF's firm goal of sustainable development and transformation.
This investment will expand the production of citral in Germany and Malaysia, diversify production and support growth opportunities for customers. China's citral plant will further consolidate BASF's market position in key growth areas and expand the production scale of a variety of incense raw materials and downstream products worldwide. After the completion of the investment, the annual production capacity of BASF citral will increase to 118kt.
