Japan's textile and apparel imports fall by 5% y-o-y in Dec

The latest data show that in December, Japan imported 200kt of textile and apparel, down 5% year-on-year, and 15.4% month on month. The imports from China amounted to 107kt, dropping by 8.8% year-on-year and 18% month-on-month.

From January to December, Japan's textile and apparel import volume totaled 2708.6kt, up 3% year-on-year but down 1.1% compared with the same period in 2019.

In terms of import value, the import value of December reached 347.5 billion yen, among which the import value of apparel was 247.2 billion yen, up by 17.5% and 18.8% respectively.
