Japan's textile and apparel imports maintain growth in Oct
The latest data show that Japan imported 265kt textile and apparel in October, an increase of 8.4% year-on-year and 4% month-on-month, exceeding 250kt for three consecutive months. Among them, the volume from China was 151kt, rose 2.9% year-on-year and 6.6% month-on-month.
From January to October, Japan's total textile and apparel imports reached 2.271 million tons, up 4.5% year-on-year, while down 0.7% from the same period in 2019.
As for the import value, the total textile and apparel import value in October toppled 500.5 billion yen, of which apparel imports stood at 369.9 billion yen, with a growth rate of 42% and 41.2% respectively.
Japan's imports of textiles and apparel from China accounted for 56.9%, which saw little fluctuation.
