Japan's textile and apparel imports in August hit a new high in recent years
The latest data shows that Japan's textile and apparel imports in August reached 268,000 tons, up 15.6% year-on-year, and 25.8% month-on-month. The import volume hit a new high in recent years, among which the volume from China increased by 13.7% year-on-year and 29.2% month-on-month.
From January to August, Japan’s textile and apparel imports totaled 1.752 million tons, an increase of 3.9% year-on-year and a decrease of 0.5% over the same period in 2019.
In terms of import amount, imports in August toppled 506.15 billion yen, of which apparel imports amounted to 382.05 billion yen, with growth rates of 49.2% and 50.7% respectively. The growth rate exceeded 30% for four consecutive months.
