In early and mid-Aug, cotton crops are in boll opening stage in Turpan of Xinjiang, and cotton crops in other regions are in flowering stage. High temperature in South Xinjiang alleviates. Average temperature falls down, but remains higher than the same period of 2021/22 season. Nevertheless, in late Aug, the temperature becomes lower compared with last year. Snow appears in some regions. The influences of weather on cotton crops maintain. Keep an eye on the weather condition. But in general, the new cotton production is still likely to rise in 2022/23 season.

For the sunshine hours, it was obviously less in South Xinjiang during early and mid-Aug, while the situation was good overall in North Xinjiang.

Conclusion: temperature in Xinjiang reduces in early and mid-Aug, and the worries over the high temperature ease somewhat, but in late Aug, the temperature becomes lower than the same period of last year. More cotton crops in late Aug are in boll opening stage. Eyes shall continue to be paid on the influences of weather condition change on new cotton production and quality. But in general, 2022/23 cotton production is still likely to rise compared with 2021/22 season.
