Vietnamese textile and apparel export improved in Mar
In Mar 2022, Vietnamese cotton import and cotton yarn export and import all dropped by over 10% year-on-year. Vietnamese cotton imports rose by 3.1% month-on-month, and Vietnamese yarn imports and exports rose by 24.9% and 24.1%month-on-month, respectively. Vietnamese fabrics imports increased 15.8% year-on-year and 33.8% month-on-month. Vietnamese textiles and apparel exports moved up by 12.1% year-on-year and 48.3% month-on-month.
1. Vietnamese cotton import inched down in Mar compared with a month earlier
Vietnamese cotton imports in Mar reached 122,300tons, down 30.6% over the same period last year and 3.1% from the previous month. U.S. was the main source of Vietnam's cotton imports, with 46,766 tons of imports, accounting for 38% of the total imports, followed by Brazil and India, accounting for 29% and 10%, respectively.
2. Vietnamese yarn import rose sharply in Mar month-on-month
In Mar, Vietnam imported 100,700tons of yarns, down 14.6 % year-on-year but up 24.9% month-on-month respectively. By country, its yarn imports in Mar were mostly originated from China, China Taiwan and Indonesia. Of this total, 59,431 tons of yarns were from China, 14,064 tons from Taiwan, and 6,680 tons from Indonesia, accounting for 59%, 14% and 7% respectively.
3. Vietnamese yarn export moved up month-on-month in Mar
Vietnamese yarn exports reached 164,300tons, up 15.4% over the same period last year and 24.1% from the previous month. By country, the exports to China, the United States and South Korea were 80,529tons, 14,034tons, and 12,466tons respectively.
4. Vietnamese yarn net exports rose sharply month-on-month
Vietnamese yarn net exports reached 63,600tons, up 22.9% month-on-month but down 16.6% year-on-year respectively.
5. Vietnamese fabrics imports increased year-on-year and month-on-month in Mar
Vietnamese fabrics imports in Mar were 1.26 billion USD, an increase of 15.8% over the same period last year and 33.8% month-on-month. By country, its fabrics imports in Mar were mostly originated from China, China Taiwan, and South Korea, of which 760 million USD worth of fabrics were from China, 170 million USD worth of fabrics from China Taiwan and 160 million USD worth of fabrics from South Korea.
6. Vietnamese textiles and apparel exports value improved both year-on-year and month-on-month in Mar
Vietnamese textiles and apparel exports in Mar reached 3.053billion USD, up 12.1% year-on-year and 48.3% month-on-month respectively. By country, Vietnam exported 1,480million USD worth of textiles and apparel to US, 300million USD to Japan, and 270million USD to South Korea.
In conclusion, Vietnamese cotton and yarn imports in Mar improved much compared to Feb, and fabric and textile and apparel exports moved up sharply year-on-year and month-on-month. The import and export growth of Vietnamese textile and apparel improved in March, which was not only related to the flexibility of the current epidemic prevention and control in Vietnam, but also to the transfer of orders as the epidemic limited logistics in China.
