Turnover in China Textile City after CNY

Near March, sales ratio of cotton grey fabric market gradually recovered, but the overall range was not large, not least because feedstock price rise drove rising of grey fabric price, and the downstream customers mainly waited and saw. This can be reflected from the transaction in China Textile City.

As of February 25, the total turnover of fabrics from January to February in 2021 reached 337 million meters, up 23.81% and 213.17% than that in 2019 and 2020 respectively. The fabric turnover in Jan 2021 was larger than that in previous years, and the fabric trading in China Textile City recovers rapidly after the Spring Festival holidays, but the recovery degree was not as good as that in 2019, but faster than that in 2020. The reasons are as follows: firstly, China Textile City successfully opened as COVID-19 pandemic cases remained stable after the holiday in 2021. Secondly, there were still some stores that have not opened yet. Thirdly, the weavers still fulfilled pre-holiday orders and fresh orders after the holiday were insufficient.

Affected by the Spring Festival, turnover of chemical fiber fabric of China Textile City in 2019-2021 gradually declined before the holiday, but that in 2021 was significantly higher than that in previous years, up 242.33% and 63.55% respectively compared with those in 2020 and 2019. After the Spring Festival, turnover of chemical fiber fabric gradually increased. As of Feb 25, the trading volume was 16.37 million meters, up 69.81% compared with the same period in 2020, but down 31.82% compared with the same period in 2019.

In 2021, turnover of cotton fabric from January to February was similar to that of chemical fiber fabric. As of February 25, the turnover of cotton fabric before the holiday in 2021 was 78.41 million meters, up 285.88% and 70.27% respectively compared with the same period in 2020 and 2019. In 2021, the turnover was 7.51 million meters, up 15.36% and 0.94% respectively over the same period in 2020 and 2019.

Highlight: cotton fabric turnover moved up
According to statistics, as of February 25, the turnovers of 100% cotton fabric, polyester/cotton fabric, polyester/rayon fabric and rayon fabric were 14.63 million meters, 13.69 million meters, 21.19 million meters and 8.38 million meters respectively from January to February 2021. It can be seen that the total turnover of polyester/rayon wool-like fabric in 2021 was better than that of other varieties, while rayon fabric one was the smallest.

In conclusion, after the Spring Festival, the turnover in China Textile City showed a good performance due to the extension of the peak season of the fabric market this year. Chemical fiber fabric and cotton fabric turnovers were better than those in last year especially cotton fabric, and polyester/rayon wool-like fabric was the biggest highlight. According to traditional dull season situation, the turnover in China Textile City will continue to improve.
