The felt blanket on the finisher palmer is one of the key factors successful shrinking process. All of our felts produced use only the highest quality material to ensure the best dimensional stability and constant shrinkage. We use European equipment and American manufacturing technology for the highest permeability of steam and water to obtain the best evaporation efficiency. Endless base web and high molecular Polyester on some models guarantee the felt to last longer and the shrinking machine to run faster.
With all the experience we have on denim fabric we made a special felt blanket for denim operation. We all know that denim fabric the PH value is high. Normal 100% polyester felt blanket will be affected by the high PH value in the denim fabric and will have a hydrolysis reaction and the felt will be decompose quickly and lose it life.
Acrylic offers an excellent choice for denim because it gives good resistance to high PH value. The felt will last much longer and remain in the strength to give denim fabric a good support and excellent drying capacity. But the felt is made of 100% acrylic for the batt and 100% polyester for the scrim.
Endless felts used on compressive shrinking machines serve three important function:
1. The felt is required to maintain the preshrunk fabric in intimate uniform contact with the surface of the heated cylinder in order to insure uniform smooth drying of the fabric, which gives the fabric its new dimensionally stabke memory. If the drying is not uniform and thorough, appearance defects due to differential fabric elongation may occur. This is sometimes the cause of wavy selvages or streaks of fullness in the fabric. It may also result in excessive fabric shrinkage due to elongation.
2. Perhaps the most important function of the belt palmer blanket is its role in precise fabric warp shrinkage adjustment. The felt blanket acts as a fabric puller to precisely control tension applied to the pre-shrunk fabric at the point where it leaves the rubber belt and enters the felt palmer.
3.The felt blanket must also provide a pressing or calendaring effect on the preshrunk fabric. This effect is of much greater importance for lightweight fabrics.The finish of the felt surface is especially important for this reason. A rough pock marked surface may cause marking of the fabric. Good quality felts should have a very smooth felt surface.
