Wash and care instrucion:
1.Once quilted, machine wash and dry our finished quilt in cold water. 3% shrinkage can be expected in the first wash with cold water. To achieve an antique puckered look use warm water for 5% shrinkage. Won’t distort when hanger, hooping or when used in quilt frames. It can be used for both batting and also as an exterior craft fabric to create stuffed snowmen and rabbits.
2.Noted that this step is optional.
3.Many quilters prefer no to pre-wash batting to achieve the unique effect created by the slight shrinkage when the completed quilt is washed.
Please follow these directions if you wish to pre-wash batting:
Hand wash in a basin or tub with a mild detergent, do not agitate or spin in your washing machine.
Soak for 20 minutes, then rinse several times.
Squeeze water out, do not wring, roll in towel to remove excess water.
Allow to dry flat.
Dry in shade or a warm dryer.
No not iron.
Once quilted, the cotton batting can be cold machine washed on a gentle cycle.
Is there a right or wrong side to **** batting?
No, there is no right or wrong side of batting but there is a “scrim” side. The cotton fibers are layered on a scrim and thin substrate material. During the needle-punching process, barbed needles push the cotton fiber through and entangle them into the scrim. When quilting, it is usually easier to do so in the same direction. It was needle-punched-the cotton side facing towards your quilt top and the scrim side facing to your quilt backing. With the cotton side is distinguished by its leaf & stem remnants(face to quilt top). There is a side that is more shinier and smoother. This is the scrim side and should face to quilt backing.
